E3D’s VariPower Heated Bed – sometimes things are meant to be.
This morning I modeled E3D’s new heated bed system to see if I could you it as part of the z-stage upgrade for the R1. Sometime in design things are meant to be and this is one of those occasions.
The mounting positions are almost identical and I even gain 5mm on the z-axis.
The VariPower Heated Bed was developed for their BigBox 3D printer. What’s really exciting about E3D’s solution is the ability to evenly heat the glass build plate. Anyone printing ABS regularly will appreciate the importance of even heat distribution across your build surface.
We’ve taken a pretty novel approach to combat variations in temperature across the print surface, particularly colder areas at corners and edges. Along with a whole host of other little details.
